About us

Bloodstock Investments with the Edge

At Jamie Railton we aim to provide private individuals with high yield investment opportunities concentrating solely on quality bloodstock assets.

We specialise in pinhooking investments, the buying and selling of bloodstock, in particular the purchase of foals.  The company has established itself as one of the leading pinhookers in Europe, realising a return on investment of:

2017 - 27%
2016 - 43%
2015 - 21%
2014 - 79%
2013 - 48%
2012 - 20%
2011 - 32%
2010 - 32%

Jamie Railton has also enjoyed considerable success as a consignor which goes hand-in-hand with pinhooking.

As with any high yield investments it is also high risk.  However, we offer an unbiased and clear focus on the markets, and are committed to achieving the best results for you and your investment.

Key to the business is Jamie Railton, who has earned an exceptional reputation based on providing an intuitive and transparent service.  He is able to identify the potential in youngstock such as foals and yearlings, purchasing those he sees as good value with a view to selling them on at a profit several months later.

An excellent horseman and competitive by nature, Jamie is meticulous in everything he does including superior feed management and personal hands-on involvement with any bloodstock under his care.

Careers

As a business which prides itself on providing a quality service, we recognise the benefit of highly skilled staff.

Given the seasonal nature of the business, we are often looking for skilled ground staff and riders in addition to personnel with experience in sales preparation and/or breaking.

The team

Jamie Railton heads up a team of skilled and courteous staff with years of experience in bloodstock, especially the sales preparation of yearlings. Key team members include:

Jamie Railton
Jamie has been buying and selling bloodstock for over 20 years. Whilst initially a jump jockey, during which time he rode more than 250 winners, his passion has always been in Flat racing and bloodstock. After several years successfully pinhooking foals to sell as yearlings, and spending time in America on a few stud farms to further his knowledge, he set up Jamie Railton Bloodstock in 2000.

Since then Jamie has built up a reputation as a meticulous and honest professional, with an intuitive knowledge of the bloodstock markets. Competitive by nature, he is always looking to improve his service and ensure any bloodstock under his care reaches its optimum potential, the objective being to achieve maximum results for his clients for whom he has acted as sales consignor or investment partner for many years.
Libby Newton
Libby has a crucial role in the team, as stress manager. Libby has been involved with horses all of her life. She predominantly has an eventing background and has competed a lot to a very high standard. Her family have owned racehorses for many years and her father is a very successful breeder.
Hetty Spencer

Hetty has been very successfully involved with horses for her whole life.  Originally from a showing background she has competed at the Horse Of The Year Show multiple times and The Royal International Horse Show.

Hetty has more recently invested in some foals to pinhook and sell as yearlings. She has also taken on joint head of sales at Jamie Railton Sales Agency as well as working for Jamie full time on the farm, prepping the yearlings and other future sales stock.

Mahendera Singh
Mahendera has been been with us for many years. He has also worked for Baker-McVeigh which has helped considerably with managing injuries. We have helped him develop his horsemanship skills with Gary Witheford and he has become an exceptional horseman. We wouldn't want to be without him.
Kevin Tobin

Kevin has been with us over 20 years and is an integral part of the Jamie Railton Sales Agency. We couldn't be without him.

Tavy de Ferranti
Tavy has worked in various sectors of the racing industry, including stints as pupil assistant to Luca Cumani in Newmarket and in the offices of Gai Waterhouse in Australia. She joins us now to assist in the sales and marketing of our horses.
Lottie Ingleton
Lottie hopes to work in bloodstock insurance in the future and is therefore joining the team to learn more about the industry in a hands on capacity. She has previously ridden in point to points, as well as produced and sold her own ponies.
