2020 Yearling Sale Review

Now the main yearling sales of 2020 are over, we have a moment to reflect on how the bloodstock market stood up to Covid19. 2020 Yearling Sale Review

From our own perspective, we suffered a little from spreading our horses around other sales when it ultimately proved that the Tattersalls sales were the strongest but no one could have foreseen that. We were further hit by the increased focus on proven stallions when our pinhooking targets have typically been the first season sires. However, despite the unpredictability of the year, we had our successes along the way. We were delighted to turnover a handful of horses for a healthy profit and are not too disheartened to have taken home a few of our most well-regarded horses to breeze next year or put into training ourselves.

We are now looking ahead to the foal sales. The GB Bonus scheme seems to have taken off in a major way and we will certainly be taking it very seriously when considering our targets for this year. There was no doubt it played an important part in the yearling sales.
